About Us
Cleanse Organic was created by Dr. Aimée Gould Shunney and Chef Jennifer Brewer. Dr. Shunney brings the rich centuries-old tradition of medical cleansing and detoxification to the program, while Chef Jenny makes it delicious and easy to integrate into your everyday life. Dr. Shunney has been using versions of this program with individual patients and groups for over twelve years. As a team, Dr. Shunney and Chef Jenny have been developing and using Cleanse Organic with groups for over 5 years at New Leaf Community Markets and Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center in Santa Cruz, CA.

Dr. Shunney, Naturopathic Physician, is in private practice in Santa Cruz, CA where she blends conventional medical diagnosis and treatment with the use of natural therapeutics. These include dietary and lifestyle counseling, nutritional supplements, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and bio-identical hormones. Dr. Shunney specializes in Women’s Health, Functional Endocrinology, and Family Medicine, but consults with men and women on many health issues. She also enjoys treating children, teens, and pregnant women.

Dr. Shunney was graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a BA in psychology. After completing her post-graduate pre-med course work, she attended the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she received her Naturopathic Medical Degree in 2001. Dr. Shunney is licensed to practice medicine by the state of California.
A dynamic educator, radio personality, and writer, Dr. Shunney is on a mission to empower people to take charge of their health with integrative medicine. Whether speaking to health professionals or laypeople, her engaging style, emphasis on patient-centered care, and passionate belief in the health benefits of joyful eating make her an audience favorite. She has lectured extensively to medical students and physicians, and she participates in teaching venues throughout the community.
In 2010 AND 2011, Dr. Shunney was voted Best Naturopathic Doctor (and second best doctor) in Santa Cruz in the Metro Santa Cruz poll.
Jennifer is a graduate of the Chef’s Training Program at the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in New York City and has a Masters Degree in Nutrition. Jennifer currently lives in beautiful Santa Cruz, CA where she is a regular instructor at New Leaf Community Markets.
